This last installment of my “Fall” into the 90’s mini-series (check out the previous two here and here) is inspired by the Tommy Hilfiger takeover of the late 90’s urban community. Although hip-hop and the iconic brand have had their ups and downs, the selling power of that magical time cannot be denied. Every “cool” celebrity rocked Tommy Hilfiger and his business expanded as more and more adopted the trend. I absolutely love and adore specifically how the late Aaliyah would wear her Hilfiger gear and it is where I drew my inspiration from for this outfit. She looked tomboy-ish and comfortable but still effortless sexy and urban. I found both the Tommy Hilfiger boyfriend jeans and undies (boy’s size) at my local tjmaxx both on clearance! I spent less than $20 and I couldn’t be happier. In order to give it the “fall” element I wore my sturdy wheat timberlands as well as threw on a sweater crop top that happened to coordinate with my color scheme. Most of the pieces for my mini fall series came from my own closet and were items I could mix and match to get the 90’s aesthetic. Check out similar items below!
Since wearing a band t-shirt is the closet thing I can get to being in a band, I love rocking them! They are so easy to pair with jeans (skinny or bf), heels, boots, jackets, blazers or with cut off sleeves … Continue reading →
Finally found an awesome utility vest! Although it is not in the original khaki finish that I wanted (still on the hunt for that) this olive tone is neutral and also pairs with everything easily. This Marshalls find is from the brand “Willow & Clay” & it features front zipper closure, two zip pockets on the chest, two cargo style pockets towards the bottom and drawstring capability on the inside to tighten from the waist for more of a flared look. I love love love the accessibility and roominess of this vest! Instead of tools, I was able to carry my phone and other personal effects securely and comfortably. You can rock this over a pair of shorts (denim or cotton blend), crop top and timberland’s as I did for a more urban appeal. One can also substitute the timb’s for combat boots or sandals and a regular tank top or three-quarter sleeve. The possibilities are endless with this number and coming in at a cool $30.00 whats not to love? The high waist beige shorts are old season forever 21, crop top is from ASOS, timberland’s are classic wheat nubuck style, the gold blue face watch is Marc Jacobs and the pom-pom socks are from ASOS. I visited the mecca (Forever 21) just over two weeks ago and scored this cute little sweatshirt on clearance! I repeat I found a size small on clearance people, this is big news! Usually for the most part I steer clear of the clearance section from forever seeing as it is normally cluttered and hard to sift through. This bad boy was staring up at me and begging to be taken home. I paired it with my go to Zara dark wash jeans, as well as old season Target plaid booties. The contrast between the two different plaid prints made for an interesting and comfortable urban fall look. Links to similar items below!
