Admitting a problem is usually the first step, so here goes – It has a been a long time since the last post! We are guilty of having been more active on instagram (which if you aren’t following us HERE is the link). It has led us a little astray from our first love! With that being said we will consciously make an effort to incorporate more in depth posts considering IG can only do so much. For today’s post I (Ari) am incorporating a look my sister photographed while she was visiting us in the city of Winter Park. This quaint town is super chic and IG worthy every corner you turn. I am wearing this incredible one shoulder checkered jumpsuit from non other than-you guessed it, ASOS. Not much has changed around here if you are an avid follower. ASOS just suits my personal style as its constantly evolving with me and you cant beat the styling and creativity of the site. I digress. The jumpsuit features a checkered pattern perfect for mixing textures, wrap front, side pockets and side zip closure. It can be worn as is in the warmer temps or over a turtle neck and boots for the colder months. #MaxxLife Summer Jumpsuit

Here my friends is the beloved skort hybrid coming back in the chic-est way possible! I scored this striped jumpsuit at TJMAXX (from the brand Papaya) and not only it is right on trend for the summer season, but couldn’t be any easier to throw on! As some of you may know I personally love the versatility of jumpsuits seeing as they can go from day to evening seamlessly and I don’t have to put much thought process into pairing multiple items. The light weight flowy chiffon like material glides along the floor, the sexy back cut-out along with the deep V-neck make for a sizzling summer look. This jumpsuit can be worn to the farmers market paired with casual mules as I did, or made edgier with caged booties for a night out. For the ladies who are afraid to wear low cut clothing due to a larger chest region, don’t be! Items like this are also for us and if the low neck may be too much for some it can always be paired with a nice camisole underneath for some modesty.

Cold Shoulder Vibes

It’s been such a long time since an actual post was written on this platform! If you guys haven’t been keeping up with us on social media, well why aren’t you? We are always talking about the latest and greatest in fashion and beauty over on itsapplesandorangesblog Instagram page. Taking a cue from a classic play book I thought I would bring it back to what I know and what I am good at for this post. I love a sexy yet classic silhouette that can be worn many different ways for various functions. This ASOS cold shoulder kimono tie pencil dress is literal perfection. The dark emerald green color and thick material make it a staple fall transitional item (although you can break the rules and wear it whenever like I do). It can even be worn with a turtle neck underneath for a chic office look. It is fully lined and hugs the body close for a structural heavenly look! I paired it with nude suede pumps from BCBG via Marshalls, an older H&M mixed metals clutch and a jacquard old navy blazer. Day or night, this little number is sure to leave an impression. NYE Looks

Hey there lovelies! I know it’s been a while but Ari & I are back in business! For this last post of 2016 I wanted to share 3 plus sized New Year’s Eve looks. I’ve chosen a metallic pleated midi skirt (which I styled two different ways) and a more festive burgundy off the shoulder swing dress. Let’s get started shall we?

First up is the silver/pewter skirt in the size xl from Charlotte Russe paired with a basic gray tee from Old Navy. Mixing casual and dressy pieces is always a good idea, especially if you don’t have major plans or just simply prefer a more casual look with a touch of sparkle. To add a pop of color I chose a small red bag. This outfit could also be jazzed up a bit with a low chunky heel, or kept more low key with tennis shoes or flat sandals as I the ones I wore.

Next up is the same skirt with a velvet hunter green bralette (1x) which is also from Charlotte Russe. I am obsessed with anything velvet, the material has such a luxurious look and feel to it. Once again pairing different textured fabrics creates such a lovely juxtaposition. For this look I added my trusty pointy ankle wrapped Sam Edelman shoes from Target.

Last but certainly not least is a Burgundy velvet off the shoulder dress from Forever 21 (plus). The heart shaped top is perfect for busty girls as it frames in all the right places. I also love the swing style from the waist down as it helps create the illusion of hips. I once again wore my black shoes, along with some fun new year accessories.

Marimekko for Target

As some of you know Ari came up to NYC for a short weekend visit almost two weeks ago (boy does time fly). I took her to a bunch of cool places, ate some amazing food and snapped a couple of outfit shots for the blog.

Now I know I’m a tad bit late because these items are no longer available (don’t worry I’ve linked some equally cute sets down below) but I had been dying to take photos of this blue, black and white printed matching set that I bought in back in April. Marimekko collaborated with Target creating some amazing prints for homeware, clothing, swimsuits and accessories. I was also very happy to see that the clothing line included plus sized items. I purchased a matching set (which I am all for these days) the top in a 1x and the bottom in a xl at only $24.99 a piece.

Now on to the review: Tops that are too boxy don’t normally suit my body type but this one has flexibility and isn’t too stiff. As for the shorts they are loose enough where you feel comfortable but they don’t stretch to the point where you feel like they’re going to fall off. Overall I love how this fits and would recommend it for other body types as well.

Flower Power

Two weekends ago I was in Brooklyn celebrating a birthday when I stumbled upon some amazing murals along the sidewalk. It’s such a rare occasion when I am able to take outfit photos that I of course jumped at the opportunity and made my friends take some of me on their cell phones.

(Disclaimer: Hence why they aren’t the best quality, but I thought why not share).

Not sure if living in London for part of last year had some influence in my style but as of lately I’ve been very much into dark colors, (Shocking right!). When I saw this dress it immediately caught my eye because it has dark undertones but what really stood out was the pop of orange. The dress is from H&M and I purchased it back in the Fall for $14.95! Side note: I am loving the fact that H&M now carries more of their clothing items in a size xl. Unfortunately it is no longer available but, there’s a similar sleeveless style at the moment in stores.

Now on to the boots! These white block heeled boots are one of my favorite purchases I’ve made in a while. I saw them on the Aldo website and proceeded to hunt them down in store. They are sort of an off white/beige shade with a chunky black and silver heel. They can easily be worn with jeans, dresses, skirts, shorts, you name it! Once again they are not available but I did tag the clear heeled missguided boots my sister wore in a previous post.

Florida Winter

Even though I was born and raised in New York, if the temperature drops below 65 degrees here in Florida I’m not happy about it. Sure, the cute boots, jackets and sweaters come out to play but so does the ashy skin, terrible colds and not so fun morning routines. I digress. This outfit was from a couple of weeks ago when it was a freezing 39 degrees! My sister in New York would kill me for even uttering those words since she has to deal with below zero temps. I decided my newly purchased missguided booties could come out to play along with one of the only pair of jeans I own. The boots are currently sold out but many different brands have almost the exact same style (they are very trendy this season) and Ill link them below as usual. The quilted down jacket is via spiga, button up shirt dress is forever 21 and the jeans are from free people purchased at you guessed it, marshalls. Heres to hoping for some relief from the “winter” woes soon. Enjoy!

Worth the picture still…

Although this post may be a bit delayed I still wanted to share a small moment with me and my sister and co blogger Gwen. She came to visit Florida for the holidays and per usual we didn’t get as much blogging or pictures as we would have hoped due to actually spending time together like normal people. It’s sad to say most times these perfectly curated and set up photos are what people post to show how much of a “good time” they are having. In reality they aren’t present in the moment and just experiencing everything from behind a lens. On this day we went to a Lakeridge winery (beautiful location close to home) and sampled some amazing wines. My outfit was inspired by this cool denim buttoned overall dress purchased from Forever 21. I wanted to keep everything else lady like and in proportion so I went with an old navy basic striped round collar shirt, nine west black patent leather booties, asos frilly socks, urban outfitters sunnies and my neutral Kate Spade chain link purse with my signature puff ball accessory. H&M Boho Chic

For this holiday season I had the rare opportunity to see my sister and co-blogger! Since living in separate states can be difficult we always try and make the most of it when we do finally get together. This ootd post was taken on a random dirt road and I couldn’t be happier with the results! Make sure to also check out Gwen’s outfit from the same shoot for more rustic inspiration. The flowly boho maxi dress is from h&m and features a v-neck, tassled tie strings, a cinched waist and flowy ruffles and floral accents all around. It sounds like a lot for one dress but it looks beautiful due to the muted earth tones and meticulous placement of all of the dramatic parts. This dress (or something similar) can be transition from a casual day time event like brunch to a night out for dinner. Target Find

Just last week I was in sunny Florida spending time with my family and enjoying the warm sun, boy am I regretting coming back to New York. I thought I would lift everyone’s spirits (including mine) by posting some ootd photos Ari shot of me. We literally parked at a dirt road along the highway for these. Fun times…

This dress was an awesome bargain find in Target, at only $6.98 I had to grab it! I noticed the price before looking at the size tag, crossed my fingers and hoped it would fit me and sure enough it did! The universe was totally on my side that day. I paired it with my Primark low heel sandals and my Kate Spade small clutch.

I will also mention that the lipstick I am wearing is the shade “Brooklyn” from Ofra Cosmetics. I am obsessed with their formula and want to now buy every single color!
