The Makeup Show- Orlando 2014

It’s that time again! The Makeup Show is back with its team to bring education and inspiration to all the beauty fanatics and artist of city beautiful and beyond! I am so excited to be attending again this year (first time was 2013) and am happy to say I will now get the chance to volunteer and see some behind the scenes action go down at this awesome show. Home to many sponsors and exhibitors such as Nars Cosmetics, Crown brush, Inglot and much more this is going to be the place to be this weekend. You have the opportunity to not only purchase from well-known vendors, but also can attend seminars and workshop focus series that highlight the keynote makeup artist affiliated with the show. James Vincent and Orlando Santiago will be amongst them just to name a few. I cannot wait to see what goodies I score for myself and what “guru” sightings might occur. Orlando Fashion Week- Dolce Vita Bing Cut Out Dress

Last weekend I had the opportunity to attend the Orlando International Fashion Week show. Featured twice on the blog before, this show is a fun-filled event with activities happening for an entire week all culminating to the final show. Designers come together to showcase their collections and its all around good times. Check them out here. For this fun night event I decided to go with this sexy number I scored for the low at my favorite store ever, Marshalls! It’s from the brand Dolce Vita and its the perfect night out attire that can transition for the cooler fall season. It’s burgundy color is offset by the cute gold polka dots and of course can’t forget the cut out detail. It can be worn a variety of ways depending on how much skin you wish you show (a slither of tummy or none at all). I paired it with my leopard pumps from forever 21 (old season) and my trustee neutral Kate Spade quilted bag that I can’t seem to take off these days. Links to the items below!

Dark Floral

I am currently loving how Spring/Summer trends are sneaking their way into Fall/Winter pieces. Which brings me to talk about my recent H&M purchase, a floral blazer with a black background color. Adding a floral pattern to a dark base color makes a clothing item a bit more wearable for the colder months. The style of this blazer is a wider cut with pockets on the side giving it a more relaxed feel. I paired it with an all black outfit, making it the focal point of this look. Check it out…

I also wanted to show you all a close up of my lovely Sam and Libby pumps from Target. The minute I saw these I fell in love! I love a classic pointy shoe but these have a bit more flare to them because of the tie around ankle cuff. The heel height was also a huge selling point for me since I no longer enjoy wearing super high heels (I am old now). Here’s a closer look…

Wine oh wine

There’s something about chilly weather that gives us the desire to wear darker shades of color such as plums, wines and berries. Whether it be on your lips or a clothing piece these richer hues really compliment all skin tones. Below you will find an outfit I put together using a plum colored flared skirt, a floral patterned top (both from H&M), black booties and a wine colored lip (Maybelline’s Divine Wine).

This past weekend was once again a nice one so I was able to wear this outfit without any tights underneath, but this look could easily be transitioned into a winter outfit with some thick tights and a chunky sweater to keep warm.

Last call before “Fall”

The weather in NYC is all over the place, one day its warm next day you have to bring out your turtlenecks, but I have a feeling that this past Saturday was one of the last “warm” days we will be having. Taking that into consideration I brought out my faux leather shorts. When the temperature drops these would look great with a pair of tights underneath, but showing off a little leg one last time won’t hurt anyone right? The lion print top is such an eye catcher! Being a Leo and all I had to get it! The sweatshirt like material gives this outfit nice texture variation. I also threw on my beloved Zara studded booties, a chunky necklace and my panama hat. “Fall” into the 90’s- Sporty Look

For the second post of the “Fall” into the 90’s 3 part series I wanted to go for a more sportier look then the first. I found this sweatshirt dress on clearance at H&M and have been able to style it so many ways ever since! In thinking about by the 90’s I went the more urban route and paired it with my nike air max sneakers, holographic clutch and can’t forget my tribal tattoo spiral choker set complete with ring and bracelet. I used to rock these chokers in so many different colors and styles back in the day! This dress is super versatile and can also be worn belted with heels for a chilly fall night out on the town. The cute yellow socks with heart print detail are from forever 21 and are best worn on a less cold evening since they are very thin. Check out the bottom for similar items and links.

“Fall” into the 90’s- Clueless Edition

What could be better then the weather cooling down? I say continuing to rock those summer 90’s trends straight into the colder months, saving time and money in your pocket! I decided to start a mini 3 part post series called “Fall into the 90’s” so I could get the most bang for my buck and wear some of my favorite pieces from the ongoing 90’s trend straight into the fall season. Here is my attempt at recreating an iconic look from the movie “Clueless” starring Alicia Silverstone as the fashionable Cher Horowitz. This classic cult film inspired me to get creative and reuse some old items I had in the back of my closet. The v-neck long-sleeved top is a basic from target, while the jumpsuit is from the brand “Max Rave” purchased ages ago. For this look the accessories say it all, the knee-high socks with frill detail, sun flower choker, combat boots, and clear clutch all give the look the 90’s aesthetic without being to gimmicky or overpowering. We were contacted a couple of weeks ago from an online women’s clothing company named eShakti with regards to reviewing the site and process of clothing customization. We of course jumped at the opportunity, after all this site boast to cater to women from sizes 0-36W and besides your ready to order items it will customize anything from the site whether its size or style.The following is my impression of my process.

-First things first- Customer service is on point! They were so gracious and extremely helpful in the customizing aspect (since it was my first time ordering from the site.)

-I loved how easy it was to send your measurements and changing aspects of the garment such as length.

– The options are beautiful, well made and well suited for many occasions.

I chose this “embellished print poplin dress” because I was in need of more work place attire and thought this could merge my love for trends and being work appropriate. It is beautiful! It fits perfectly tailored to me and although it is lined it didn’t feel heavy at all and can be worn to transition throughout the seasons. I sent my personal measurements as well as opted to make it at the knee instead below knee-length (since I am only 5’3). It worked out and the olive tone looks great with my pink Nine West heels. The a-line gives me more shape and the high empire waist creates the illusion of curves. I would definitely order from them considering you get to design your own piece from start to finish!

I saw this gorgeous skirt at Marshalls (such a #fabfound) and knew it had to be mine! The color is so vibrant and easy for summer or fall and the geometric print also gives off a tribal vibe all at the same time. Not only is it versatile and can easily be mixed and matched, the material is incredibly soft, comfortable and super stretchy. The brand is “Matty M” and according to the company Facebook this brand features comfortable clothing meant to transition from runnings errands, meetings or even a night out. It fit the contours of my body, without being too tight and showing off any unsightly bumps or lumps. I paired it with my denim acid wash button up from target (old season),suede peep toe booties and my Salvatore Ferragamo vintage cross body . This was incredibly easy to throw on and would work with so many different color palettes as well as made casual or dressy. For the price point it can’t be beat!
