Downtown Orlando Fashion Week 14′- Day 1 OOTN

Florida Fashion Weekend kicked off May 9 with a two day event filled with fashion and fun. I was happy to be able to get on the media list for the pre- show mixer hosted at Jai Gallery to get a look at the models before hand. I have never attended an event like this before and had no idea what to expect. I went with these bold yet sophisticated statement making basketball shorts that I recently ordered from ASOS. This “river island” piece kills the tough task of making shorts chic by adding a touch of sheer element. Everyone and everyone was giving me compliments the entire night and I even got mistaken for one of the models (correction because of my shorts clearly not my height, a girl can only dream). I paired them with a white quilted crop sweater from H&M and my amazing shoe cult by nasty gal heels. Sleek straight hair and my go to Phillip lim bag completed my overall aesthethic and I was ready to take on the night! Stay tuned for pics from the actual show. Links to items below!

Finally found an awesome utility vest! Although it is not in the original khaki finish that I wanted (still on the hunt for that) this olive tone is neutral and also pairs with everything easily. This Marshalls find is from the brand “Willow & Clay” & it features front zipper closure, two zip pockets on the chest, two cargo style pockets towards the bottom and drawstring capability on the inside to tighten from the waist for more of a flared look. I love love love the accessibility and roominess of this vest! Instead of tools, I was able to carry my phone and other personal effects securely and comfortably. You can rock this over a pair of shorts (denim or cotton blend), crop top and timberland’s as I did for a more urban appeal. One can also substitute the timb’s for combat boots or sandals and a regular tank top or three-quarter sleeve. The possibilities are endless with this number and coming in at a cool $30.00 whats not to love? The high waist beige shorts are old season forever 21, crop top is from ASOS, timberland’s are classic wheat nubuck style, the gold blue face watch is Marc Jacobs and the pom-pom socks are from ASOS. Midi Skirts

Spring is right around the corner and I am already looking for my must have pieces, one of them being the midi skirt which I have become utterly obsessed with! I love the versatility of it, one minute you can be casual by pairing it with flats or sandals and the next you can have a night out on the town with a pair of booties, strappy heels or wedges. They come in a variety of colors, patterns and lengths making them wearable for all shapes and sizes. I personally prefer the more flared out style (A line) as opposed to the tapered kind. I was able to get my hands on a black and white striped midi from Asos and I am just dying for the warmer weather to return to the big apple.

I am obsessed with matching sets and acquiring as many as I can for the upcoming warmer season. I usually go with minimal jewelry if the set has a busy pattern but play it up a little more if we are working with solids and textures. Green with Envy

Hey Everyone! So, I was visiting my sister in Florida a few weeks ago (oh how I miss the sun, and my sister of course) we were able to sneak in some photo shoot time, which is great for me since I hardly ever post outfit of the day entries. I never bring much clothing with me when I travel to Florida because I know I am going to shop while I am there, and boy did I shop! While everyone was off at work I drove myself to The Florida Mall and had a grand ole’ time. Forever 21 was of course my first stop and I managed to score some great pieces that were on clearance. I put together an outfit that I absolutely love (under $100 might I add).

-The Black peep mesh peplum top is perfect for adding curves to a not so curvy figure (such as mine) and the mesh adds a little sex appeal to a classic top.
-The Green pencil skirt gives this outfit the pop of color it needs.
-The black and gold studded boots are a favorite of mine (from my look for less post) and they give the outfit a nice edge to it.

Flower Headband a la’ Lana Del Rey

Fall has only now begun to rear its ugly head here in Sunny Fl but not even a week ago I was still able to enjoy a warm look for my new favorite item ie. this red rose head band. I purchased this on ASOS (still available on the site) and I thought it could go well with my year round summer attire and also be tweaked to go with fall looks since the red would also look great with jewel tones and fun stockings or tights. This rose garland has XL flowers attached to a woven wire band and sits perfectly (even tried it with my curly hair). The only con I could think is that it eventually became a little uncomfortable with long day wear (such as any other headband I suppose) as the woven wire puts slight pressure after a while. This could have been due to my clip in extensions as well (stay tuned for a post on those babies). Overall I received so many compliments/comments and concerns over this look. I felt very Lana Del Rey and effervescent. If I had the funds I would have definitely made my way over to Orlando’s Electric Daisy Carnival (hosted last week) and fit right in with the throngs of hipster chicks in cutoffs and fringe and been a happy unicorn. This maxi skirt and tank top look is great for an event like EDC (or any other musical festival of any kind), causal day outing, or even paired with warmer attire for a completely different take on the roses. I am loving a statement sweater for this upcoming fall season! Embellishments, tailoring, style and type of material all make for eclectic looks that can be incorporated and worn throughout the season. Some of my favorites would be classic v-neck cuts, embellishments (to avoid having to overload with accessories), long lengths and chunky knits. “Bad-Man” OOTD- Casual Bat Top +Timbs

As described on the site the brand Ichiban is exclusive to ASOS. The British label meaning “number one” or “the best” in Japanese offers edgy & fun casual street-wear clothing. I fell in love with almost every piece but decided on this simple crop top because it reminded me of an inside joke I share with someone. I also loved the graphic and how I could play it up using different summer or even fall elements (can be paired with knee high boots and jeans). I chose to go with my favorite American apparel khaki zip side shorts (featured before) and my timberlands that I received as a birthday present (kids sizing). Bat graphics are very trendy right now for the Halloween holiday and this look goes right along with it. Links below for the items!
