Holiday Shine

IMG_0890

The Holidays are upon us and what better way to celebrate than to look the part with lots of glitz and glam. I posted the photo above on Instagram and decided to show you all what products I used. I am in love with the rusty copper shade I used all over the lid! Colors like this are a great way to add a bit of shine without it being too overpowering or for those who are not into chunks of glitter on your eyelid (for those that are I will have a post up for you soon). I hope to soon be able to incorporate mini video clips on other makeup looks I create. Well then, lets get started!

Base: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Primer great for creating a smooth canvas and filing in pores before applying foundation.
Color Corrector: Bobbi Brown in the shade Peach (I put this under my foundation to counter-act the darkness under my eyes and around my mouth)
Foundation: Ex1 Invisiwear foundation in the shades F300 & F400 mixed together (I am so pale during winter months)
Concealer: Maybelline Fit Me in the shade medium #25 under my eyes
Bronzer: NYX matte bronzer in the shade Deep-Tan to give my face some all over color and I also used it for slight contouring
Blush: MAC sheertone blush in the shade Peaches
Eyeshadows: Makeup Geek’s vanilla bean for brow bone highlight, Revlon Matte in the shade rich sable for the crease and outer corner and for the standout color I used NYX loose pearl pigment in the shade Rust ( I wet my brush a bit with MAC’s fix plus)
Brows: Anastasia Beverly Hills brow wiz in the shade Dark Brown
Eyelashes: One coat of Too Faced Better than Sex mascara and on top a coat of Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes.
Lips: MAC lipstick in the shade Craving ( I dabbed it with my finger) topped it off with Gerard Cosmetics lipgloss in the shade Nude.

Here’s a closer look of the shadow

How vibrant does that cooper shade look? Utterly Obsessed!
Hope you all enjoyed this quick “tutorial” so to speak. Once again I will be working on putting out Video Clips so you can actually see what I am doing.

Halloween Collaboration- Last Minute Costumes

Here are some fun super easy & quick Halloween ideas for those last minute planners like ourselves!

I wanted to go with something that I didnt have to do much and could use items I already owned seeing as thats the true spirit of it being last minute. I thought of my beloved flower crown that I dont get to wear that often (check out my previous Lana Del Ray post on it). Then it came to me, FRIDA KAHLO! I can dress sexy or cute any other time of the year, this day is the one day you can be completely creative and think outside of the box. Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter best known for her self portraits featuring her infamous unibrow. Picture of the items I used below! If you are looking for something less obscure scroll down to check out Gwens last minute look!

For all of you last minute gals I too have the perfect look for you and the best part is you wont have to spend much money! A creepy doll/clown is super easy to create and all you need is makeup that you already have at home. You can add to this costume by putting on colorful clothing to make it more clown-ish or a ruffly top to create a more doll-like effect. Check out what I created below… (Photos were taken with my phone, please excuse the quality)

You can make this look a bit more dramatic by adding black eyeliner to your eyes as well as underneath your bottom lash line. I did not for the sake of time, but I hope you all can still get the feel of it.

Hope you enjoyed!
Have a safe and happy Halloween!

July 4th Outfit Inspo

Happy Independance day to all of my fellow Americans! I am so excited to be able to share some outfit inspiration for this awesome day, but mainly happy for the day off from work. Who wouldnt be looking forward to gorging oneself on barbeque food, watching fire works and wearing fun patriotic themed items? This year I decided to tone down my previous enthusiam (ie tattoo american flag lips) and went for a more subtle approach in showing my support. My camo skinnies serve as a “neutral” base while also representing for our troops, American flag canvas flats are old season target and my crisp white button up finish off the look. 4th of July nails

What better way to spruce up your 4th of July look than by adding a touch of fun to your nails. Below are some fun and easy ways to decorate them for this upcoming weekend.

4th of July nails

A simple red, white and blue nail polish can go a long way, all you need is some scotch tape and you can create all sorts of designs with it. Touches of gold, silver and glitter nail polish can also add a festive pop to your look. If painting your own nails isn’t your thing another alternative is nail stickers, they are super easy to apply onto your nails and the best part is there is no need for drying!

The most important part is to have fun with your creations and enjoy the fun filled weekend!

Happy 4th of July Everyone!

Pack w/ Ari for Puerto Rico!

So as some of you may already know my sister/co blogger and I live in two different states and don’t get to physically see each other that often (except for holidays and such). We have decided to take a “sisters” trip this weekend for some fun and relaxation in Puerto Rico! I am so excited to get away for a little bit and thought it would be awesome to share some packing tips for our 4 day, 3 night extravaganza. I will be going over some ways to best utilize your clothing and Gwen will go in further on another post on your makeup and hygiene products.

  1. First things first, assess how many days you will be gone and what type of climate you will be in. Google is your best friend on this matter.
  2.  If you don’t already have a set itinerary, have a general idea of what type of events/ outings you will be attending ie. mostly casual, conservative historical sites, festive night outs, or mostly beach bum days etc
  3.  Write down your basic clothing essentials so that you wont forget them and can easily check mark them once they are packed away (undies, bras, socks etc – Here is a List I like using for myself.
  4. Start with each day and run down the list of pre planned (or made up) activities that you will go through. For instance mine looks something like this.

    Untitled

I am repeating many items for sake of saving room in my carry on (my sandals, purses, makeup, pjs just to name a few). I then take photos of everything laid out on my phone for reference. This process helps me not over pack and bring exactly what I need for each day keeping in account all different types of scenarios that may occur. I am so excited for my trip and I hope this helped anyone who struggles packing a bag (I still do sometimes). Stay tuned for detailed outfits of the day from this trip!

To Tokyo

Memorial weekend has come and gone and with it came an opportunity to get away, perhaps relax and enjoy family and friends company. I don’t typically do the usual BBQ setting but this is my first year being a godmother and attending such family oriented festivities. Memorial weekend brought me down to Miami to visit him and also get the chance to reconnect with old pals for some fun in the sun. I love the combination of black, white and leopard and felt inspired by my new crop top from H&M. This look is similar to an old club look of mine and can be recreated with different pieces to convey the same effect. The crop mesh top with Tokyo emblazoned on the front can be paired as a I did here with a high waist skirt or even jogging pants for a more sporty look. The striped skirt and leopard heels are both old season Forever 21. Links & options down below!

I purchased the top in store only two weeks ago but it is not on the site! Check your local H&M and you may score the exact one. Here are some similar options

Oxfords & Blazers -Fall OTTD

So we were finally together again for the holidays! Gwen & I had so much fun eating and enjoying each others company. Stay tuned for some more fabulous photos and hauls of our lovely gifts! With that being said the weather in Florida was bi-polar the entire time. On this particular day it was very nice and sunny outside in the high 60’s. I got to play around with some layering and neutrals and came up with this casual fall look. I paired my classic crew neck Ralph Lauren polo with my thrifted grey blazer and Zara dark wash jeans. For the shoes I chose my favorite beat up forever 21 (old season) Oxford’s as well as my mustard Phillip lim for target bag. Links below!

Tiger Print Bodysuit-OOTN

Fourth of July has come and gone and with it came a night of celebrating and enjoying a night out on the town. Forever 21 has always been a staple go-to place for on trend affordable outfits for the masses. Once again they did not fail me for this weekend holiday as I did manage to snag this awesome tiger print bodysuit a couple of weeks ago. (still available on the site!) This lightweight bodysuit features a scoop neckline, back and snap button closure. It is incredibly soft! Throw it on with some jeans and a leather jacket for an edgy look, or keep it light and fun as I did for those summer night outs. I paired it with one of my favorite thrifted high waist shorts, red Mary-Jane style pumps from target and a clutch that actually came with Sonia Kashuk brushes (also from target-old season). Ladies please do not forget your Band-Aids/blister guards if you haven’t worn your shoes too many times! I learned this the hard way as I am now recovering from wearing them the entire night. All in all I had a great time watching the night sky light up and I loved the comfort of the outfit.

Cons
-If your not a fan of panty lines, this bodysuit is not a thong and may show up depending on the material you are wearing over it (my jeans weren’t too bad)

-The accessibility of using the restroom often while having a “night out” was compromised by having a bodysuit on. The snap button closure did help some.

For only $12.80 I don’t think a simple summer night outfit could get any better. Hope everyone enjoyed the holiday!

Easy 4th of July Inspiration for Nails

July 4th is upon us! A time where we get to gorge on food cooked on a grill, drink heavily and light up the night sky with fire works all in the name of America. This holiday is always fun and festive partly due to the explosives involved and partly because of the awesome patriotic gear one can rock. Cut off denim, boots, or pretty much anything with an American flag count towards this day. I’ve chosen to rock some particularly fun options in the past (patriotic lip tattoos) and this year I want to go more subdued and just do something fun on my nails. Here are some of the following options/inspiration.

You can go with the classic All American flag look

Last but not least you can choose to represent any one of the amazing groups that make up the military, after all they fight every day to allow us to keep our freedoms that we enjoy!
